This issue started about a week ago. If I ignore all the known issues with Outlook 2011 since moving to Mountain Lion, I would say Outlook has been running fine until last week. I have taken a look at Microsofts website but did not find any issue close to mine. I decided to try a mac forum first in case this is a ML issue with Outlook, rather than just an Outlook issue. Because my skeptism of Microsoft, it probably is an issue with Microsoft 2011 and they probably don't want to bother fixing it.
Emails not Syncing with Exchange in Outlook 2011 on a Mac. Yesterdays mail while the rules that send email to other folders are still recieving new mail, then you.
Here's the issue: My work email is set up in Outlook 2011 version 14.2.5 using IMAP. I go through my day as usual reading emails, responding to them, and filing them away in folders (on the server). I can go through 100 emails in my inbox to only 10 by the end of the day. The rest have been deleted, or filed away.
I am able to receive and send emails with no errors. However, once I leave work and view my emails online or on another program (such as MacMail), I see those 100 emails in my inbox with only half of them read and another half unread. I see no pattern to it. (The most recent email in a conversation is read but several earlier ones are not). The strangest part: All those emails I filed away in folders on the server or deleted are in those folders AND in my inbox. Therefore, if I refile the emails, read them or delete them I will have dupllicate emails. Same thing goes if I repair the folder in Outlook.
It takes all those emails in my Inbox online and puts them back in my Inbox on the server. If I make any changes in Mail (On a different computer that is on Snow Leapord) or on the web, I just sync the folder and it shows the changes in Outlook. Essentially this is the syncing issue: Other programs - Server - Outlook = OK Server - Outlook = OK Outlook -x- Server = NOT SYNCING I'd like to reitterate that this started last Tuesday (Nov 20). Our IT can't figure it out. Hi Meghan, You are right saying that it is not syncing or does slowely and it is not done by the time you switch off your Outlook. You can run some manual tests by pressing CTRL + Click on a folder in your Outlook 2011 and Sync this Folder Then check the webmail.
Also you may want to check this in Outlook 2011: 1 ) Tools Run Schedule Edit Schedules 2) Assuming you already have a scheduled 'Send/Receive All' occurring every few minutes - double-click the appropriate Schedule item. 3) In the Edit Schedule window, in the Action area to the right of the Receive Mail action, click the Account Options button. 4) Put a check next to every folder and in the Synchronization Setting column make sure it is set to New Messages. If you choose Headers Only, the folders will not auto-sync. No idea why it stopped working but usually it coincides with OS updates or MS Office updates on Mac.
Post back if you get anywhere with this. We rebuild the identity once before when I first discovered this issue. Still hasn't wored.
It won't let me Click Here for account options and the From (Genetics.) is a drop down but it's grayed out too. I tried the IMAP folders and it won't let me edit anything there. I can only unsubscribe then resubscribe to my sub folders that I created on the server. We are thinking about reinstalling the software. It might help with the possibility that the update created this problem. I finally posted this on the Microsoft forum. No reply yet.
Hi Brjapp, I didn't really find a solution for it. I was able to find a way to work around it. My IT department believed it was the version of Office that I was using. IT believes that Outlook was having an issue with deleting/moving emails from the Inbox. It copied the email to their various folders.
There solution was to roll back to the previous version of Office. An update of Office, 14.2.5, was released around the time I had these issues (late November). IT reinstalled Office, 14.2.0 and shut off the automatic update option. I worked with first version until I was satisfied it was syncing properly. I manually updated to the 14.2.3 version soon after and have not come across any syncing issue.
Just make sure to shut off automatic update otherwise, it will go straight to 14.2.5. FYI: It still has it's weird glitches though. For example: the letter after an apostrophe gets capitalized w/ autocorrect - had to shut off automatically capitalize the first letter in the sentance; also, I can add a new folder but I can't rename it and it's really finicky about moving an email into a folder on the server. I have to go offline to do this then go back online for it to sync to the server & add the new folder. It's very odd. I'm waiting for a new update to come out but Microsoft doesn't seem to care and/or no other user seems to find this an issue. Take a look at this link: According to Microsoft, the latest version(s) of Outlook 2011 enable IMAP IDLE on ALL folders, and therefore there is no need (or ability) to tell Outlook to sync a given folder.
My own experience is that this works, but perhaps a bit oddly enough, after setting up Outlook 2011 initially with an IMAP account it took its own time before the automatic syncing worked (if I recall correctly, it took several hours). It may have had something to do with the number of emails on the server for this account, but this is speculation only. Hello I am running 14.3.8 on Macbook pro and Macbook Air both with OS X vesion 10.8.5 on the Macbook pro I have not had any problems with Outlook 2011 and IMAP regardles of the version. With the Macbook Air the proble has existed pritmuch over the last Year. In adition I have the problem that e-mails that are in the inboy are being outomaticaly deleated / moved to the trasch folder.
I found a recomentation to reinstal the account which seems to remidy the problem for a few weaks and then the problem is back. Would apreciate any help posible.
